Basic Arithmetic
Enter the numbers and operation symbols in order, using the order of operations.
Example: (5 − 2) × −7 =
Answer: −21
Percentages
To enter a percentage, enter the number and then 2nd, left parenthesis. The 2nd key gives you the second function of a key—that’s the small green symbol at the top of the key.
Example: 65% × 150 =
Answer: 97.5
Scientific Notation
To enter scientific notation, use the ×10n key.
Example: 2.3 × 104 + 6.7 × 104 =
Answer: 90,000
Fractions
To enter fractions, use the (numerator over denominator) key. The calculator will give you the answer as a reduced fraction.
Example: 2/3 ∶ 1/2
Answer: 11/3
Mixed Numbers
To enter mixed numbers, first enter the whole number, then use 2nd and the fraction key to begin the fraction part of the number.
Example: 83/4 × 11/2 =
Answer: 10(1/4)
Powers
To enter a number squared, use the x2 key.
Example: 6.12 =
Answer: 37.21
Example: 28 =
Answer: 256
Roots
To enter a square root, use 2nd and the x2 key.
Example: √676
Answer: 26
Example: ∛729
Answer: 9
Toggle Key
Use the answer toggle key to change an answer between fraction and decimal, square root and decimal, or pi and decimal.
Example: 19/20 =
Answer: 0.95
